by kwhittek
January 4, 2010 – 2:42 pm
Happy New Year! If you’re like most of us, the best you could say about 2009 was that it was a “character builder”. But entrepreneurs by nature believe that small business will prevail. What better way for you to learn about trends and gain some new tools to position your business for prosperity in the new decade than by attending the Washington County Economic Summit on January 13, 2010? Over 12 breakout sessions such as “What we need now are Customers” and “Show me the non-Traditional Money” will help you think in a new direction. Jay Bean, of the nationally acclaimed Orange Soda will talk about putting some fizz in your internet marketing program. Of course, the ballroom speakers U.S. Senator Bob Bennett and Utah Governor Gary Herbert will set the stage from a national and state viewpoint. Perhaps one of the most encouraging signs of economic progress will take place in ...

How do you increase your odds of success?

by Jill Elliss
April 2, 2009 – 3:50 pm
Lex Watterson, of the Mountain West Capital Network had some great suggestions for entrepreneurs at this week's Governor's Summit. 1. Find somebody who's been there before. You don't have to make all the mistakes yourself. Note: (The SEED Dixie Entrepreneurs' Eat with an Expert event on April 23rd will hep you with this. Email pphillips@utah.gov to get set up for this) 2. Constantly educate yourself. The Dixie Business Alliance has some good training programs, or see one of our team to help you navigate through your issues. 3. Find yourself a mentor. Ditto above, but be respectful and prepared. People are willing to help you, but you need to always give before you get.
